Gasline Installation Services

Gasline Services

The capacity of gas required for a home to properly operate their gas appliances, furnaces and hot water tanks is measured by whats called BTU’s (British Thermal Units) and has to be calculated so that we know the size of gas line that is required to operate even in the case where all gas appliances could be working at the same time which doesn’t happen often but could happen. The reason we do this for safety first of course but also according to the gas code we need to know how much BTU’s is going to be needed.

We provide gasline installation services to a wide variety of appliances.

Gas fitter certified

We ensure the gas line coating is traceable in case we need to locate the gas line later on if digging in the area is required for either landscaping or utility upgrade or foundation work around your house.
The total BTU’s has to be under 400,000 otherwise a gas fitter with a Gas Fitter Licence #1 is required because they are the only ones who are certified to do gas work with a total amount of BTU’s exceeding 400,000, and this is according to gas code.

The most important things you need to know when doing a gas line

One of the most important things we have to look at when we are doing a gas job for a customers is finding out the following
  1. Number BTU’s (British Thermal Units)
  2. Size of Gas Line Required in CM or Inches
  3. We need to know if we have to run what is called Track Pipe or Rigid Pipe, or Underground Pipe with Trace Wire
  4. We need to know the length of the gas piping we are required to run.
  5. We need to know if the job requires running gas piping under ground in which case we need to use a special coated gas line and has to be a minimum of two feet under ground.

TSSA Certified Is Important

The last item to take into consideration is that you always have to hire a registered gas fitter with TSSA to do any of your gas work at the house for safety reasons and for liability. If something happens to your home because of gas work that has been done with a contractor that does not have a gas license your insurance will not cover you for damages occurred.
